Moscow International TB Iris Competition


    Moscow International Tall Breaded Iris Competition (MIIC) is one of the oldest international iris competition. In 2015 it will be held in the jubilee 20th time. A longer history has only Florence Competition (established in 1957). The winners of MIIC steel was varieties which soon gained popularity and have been awarded from foreign iris societies (MONEY IN YOUR POCKET, HIGH CHAPARRAL, ITALIAN ICE, WHISPERING SPIRITS and others).
    MIIC is held by the Russian Iris Society (RIS) together with the Botanical garden of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. During the Competition identifies the registered varieties and seedlings are Tall Bearded irises, reliably growing and blooming in the Moscow region and highly decorative.
    To go for testing cultivars are only allowed not more than three years, counting from the year of their registration (or from the year of introduction, if the latter took place before registration). A competitive sector, which is carried out soil tests of varieties, is located near the building of the Directorate of the Garden. All cultivars planted in the ground under a special competition numbers, which are then used to refer to cultivars in the forms of judging. The judging takes place 3 years after planting cultivar. According to the results of the judging are determined annually 3 winners of the MIIC and awarded the relevant award.
    If you intend to send cultivar registration current year corresponding application (or electronic copy) must be received by MIIC Coordinator prior to sending material. Cultivars may be offered for Competition only by their authors (registrants). Each cultivar may be proposed for participation in MIIC only once. Each author (the registrant) has the right to annually submit a maximum of six cultivars. Planting material of each cultivar submitted to participate in the MIIC must consist of two pieces and sent MIIC Coordinator Helen Datsyuk at the following address: Directorate of the Botanical garden of Moscow State University, Vorob'evy Gory, Moscow, 119992, Russia. Annual deadlines for submission of material for the MIIC: April – August. Evaluation (judging) of each cultivar is held in the third year after the year of planting. Each participant that submitted material for the Competition, receives a corresponding confirmation. The material sent in for MIIC, must be healthy (from foreign participants the phytosanitary certificate is required). Planting material after the tests remains the property of the Botanical garden of Moscow State University.
